About Acrylates
Acrylate Applications
Acrylates are a family of monomers that serve as fundamental building blocks for a wide variety of industrial and consumer products. Acrylates and acrylic acid derivatives are used as starting materials for polymerization and copolymerization reactions, as well as contributing critical performance properties to a host of complex and highly specialized formulation systems.
Acrylate Adhesives & Sealants / UV Cured Resins
Acrylates provide specialized functionality in monomer mixtures used to produce copolymer based adhesive and sealant products. They are frequently used in construction adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, and UV cured resins for electronic components, optical bonding, and windshield chip and crack repair. They impart adhesion, flexibility, weatherability, internal plasticization, hardness control, and abrasion resistance, and resistance to oils and greases.
Acrylate Paints and Coatings
Acrylates are used as monomers in the production of copolymers for a variety of surface coatings. They are widely used in water-based paints and coatings where they provide good water resistance, low temperature flexibility, and excellent weathering and sunlight resistance. These monomers are also used in specialty coatings for leather finishing, paper coatings and sealants, and inks.
Acrylate Materials Used in Construction
Acrylic polymers and copolymers are used as building blocks in construction product formulations such as sealants, adhesives, waterproofing membranes, and elastomeric roof coatings. Features and benefits offered by these chemicals include strong adhesion, improved water resistance, ease of use, and increased durability
Acrylate Leather and Textiles
Acrylic copolymers are used as film coatings and leather finishes for furniture and clothing. Polymers and copolymers produced from acrylic monomers are used in the manufacture of both woven and non-woven textiles.
Acrylate Superabsorbent Polymers
Acrylic acid is used as the monomer for superabsorbent polymers for personal and baby care products.
Acrylate Water Treatment / Flocculants
Acrylates and acrylic acid are used as building blocks to make flocculants for water treatment.
Acrylate Chemical Intermediates
In industry, acrylates and acrylic acid monomers are widely used as molecular building blocks due to their chemical structure and useful chemical functionality. In the products these monomers are used to produce, they impart properties such as adhesion, flexibility, weatherability, internal plasticization, hardness control, abrasion protection, and resistance to oils and greases.
